Game. Changer. I have been raising chickens for the past 30 years, and this, hands down, is the best egg “timer” ever. Period. Put it in the pot with the eggs, cover them with cold water, add a little salt (and if you are using freshly laid butt nuggets either from your own girls or from the farmer’s market, make sure to add (a heaping 1/4 tsp per egg for those that prefer to measure things out) baking soda so that it makes it much easier to peel) bring it to a boil and cook to your desired type of egg temp! Once you have tested which level of cooked you prefer (this will use up a few eggs) and make sure once that level is reached to take it immediately off of the heat, carefully drain the boiling water, and shock it with cold running water until the eggs are slightly warm to the touch. Peel and enjoy!

Works perfectly every time I boil eggs. Start with cold tap water in a saucepan, place the egg time and eggs in before turning on the heat. Within 15 minutes, the water will start to boil (set a timer) and watch the line move to hard egg line for the perfect hard boiled eggs. Take off the flame and immediately dump the boiling water, adding cold water to the pan several times to cool the eggs down rapidly. With this timer, I never get the green line around the egg yolk. My mom used one of these for years; I inherited her egg timer about 30 years ago and it finally pooped out about a month ago as the clear coat fogged out and you couldn’t read the lines. Pretty long review for something so simple but it shows how much I love using it.

So far so good. Makes perfect soft boiled eggs….Tho hard to read in bubbling water….have to scoop out every so often to read

Left one of these along with a couple of eggs too long in the pot, the water boiled off, and I ruined all the eggs, including this, so had to get a replacement. Was happy to be able to get the same thing, as I’d had the other for years & years and wouldn’t boil eggs without it. MUCH better/more accurate than using an egg timer. I mainly use for hard boiled eggs, but it has markings for soft-boiled as well. The only problem I have with it is trivial: the thing is flat-bottomed but still upturns pretty easily in actively boiling water, so you sometimes have to use something to right it to read it. Arrived on time and undamaged.

I’m a klutz in the kitchen. I ordinarily have to cook strictly by directions, because I have no instincts. For years, I avoided hard-boiling eggs because there are so many conflicting instructions on how to do it. But a friend gave me one of these, and it became my backup. I no longer had to worry if, by following any particular set of instructions, I was cooking the eggs too long or not long enough. This wonderful little gadget tells me. I only use it for hard boiling — I can’t testify to its accuracy for less-well-cooked eggs. But if it says something is hard boiled, it’s hard boiled but not overcooked (still tender). I have one caution. At first, when I drained and rinsed the eggs at the end of their cook time, I left the egg timer in the pot (to cool it off too, to make it easier to handle). Eventually, it broke — the two pieces of plastic separated. That’s why I bought another one. Now, I remove the timer before I rinse the eggs, and the new one shows no sign of breaking. I think the rapid cool-down was too much thermal stress for it to bear. It’s well worth fishing the hot timer out from among the eggs in order to extend it life. I recommend this product.

This is the 2nd one of these little items I have purchased . (I lost the 1st one in a move). They work perfectly in knowing when to remove boiling eggs from the water, depending on what your desired softness or firmness you want. It’s very easy to read as well. The egg timer arrived promptly and not damaged. . (It was packaged perfectly for shipping). Try one. I’m quite confident you’ll be happy with this little gadget. Highly recommend this timer as well as the seller.
